Chancellor Kiley Kirk to take oath Jan. 2 in Louisville

An investiture ceremony for new 6th District Chancellor Kiley Kirk will be held Jan. 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Winston County Courthouse in Louisville.

Chancellor Joseph Kilgore will administer the oath of office.

Judge Kirk will take the position formerly held by Chancellor Edward Fenwick. Judge Fenwick, who has served since January 2007, will retire Dec. 31.

The 6th Chancery District includes Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Kemper, Neshoba and Winston counties.

Judge Kirk previously served as Winston County prosecutor, Youth Court prosecutor and city of Noxapater prosecutor. He is a graduate of Mississippi State University and Mississippi College School of Law.

Across the state, 42 new judges will take their oaths of office in ceremonies scheduled during the next three weeks. New judges include three new Court of Appeals judges, 20 new Chancery Court judges, nine new Circuit Court judges and 10 new County Court judges. New judicial terms begin on Jan. 1, 2019.
